When one understands this difference between what is eternal, nitya, and what is ephemeral, anitya, one becomes a seer and knower of Truth.

Kṛṣṇa says that the sensory experiences, mātrā-sparśhaḥ are all temporary. Feelings of hot and cold, śītoṣṇa, sweet and sour, wet and dry, experiences of pain and pleasure, sukha-duḥkha, as well as other experiences of like and dislike are all temporary, anityāḥ. These experiences do not affect the centered person who is qualified to be enlightened, so amṛtatvāya kalpate.

These sensory experiences are anitya or impermanent and unreal. Moreover, they are relative. What may be considered hot by one person may not be perceived as hot by another. Reaching out to an Enlightened master, doing what the master says and acting without intention is life!

If the depth of the intention is more and the action is less, the person is lazy. He is lazy or in tamas.
If the depth of intention and of the action is the same, the person is in restless action or rajas.
If there is no intention but only the action, he is in purposeless action or sattva.

That is why Krishna says in the Bhagavadgita, ‘Fight, O Arjuna.’ It is not the act of ‘killing’ that will be recorded but the intention that will be recorded. The intention of Arjuna is the intention of Krishna, who is a being with no intentions as He is one with the Cosmos!

When you act in tune with the Cosmos, the whole Cosmos blesses you. You attract all kinds of positive coincidences around you. That is why when people contribute even a little to the cause of such a person they are showered in abundance from all corners.

The moment you take any relationship for granted and stop responding with gratitude, it starts falling apart

The first thing we need to understand is that no person has taken birth only to serve us. Every other person is also on the path of life just as we are. As a kind gesture, out of love, they do things for us. Even your own wife or husband is doing a very kind act of serving you, of providing for you or taking care of you. Of course, marriage calls for give and take but the husband or wife can never be taken for granted. They can never be thought of as our birthright. Especially between partners, a lot of things are taken for granted. Somehow, this idea has taken root very deeply in our society. Because of this, many marriages fall apart today.

I tell you, even during a physical relationship there can be such deep gratitude for the other person’s body. It will make the whole thing a divine experience instead of mere physical pleasure.

When you can derive so much pleasure because of the other, why not feel gratitude towards the other for it?  If the other is deeply respected from the beginning, many marriages can be saved.

Painkiller from the master’s side is the love and compassion the master showers with just a look!

Normally, whatever steps we take when we are faced with pain are attempts to escape the pain and suffering. People ask me how I am able to be blissful all the time and whether enlightenment gets rid of all pain.

Be very clear, enlightenment is not an escape from pain but an understanding of pain. It gives a deep insight and courage to look objectively at oneself.

‘Why am I feeling miserable? What is it that is causing me suffering and anguish? What exactly is causing me to feel hurt?’

All you need is the courage to ask these questions and face the answers. You will be free from the usual suffering.

How to avoid pleasure and pain? Just go through both in a witnessing state, that’s all.

A small story:

Once a disciple was walking with a Zen master when a flock of geese flew overhead. The master asked, ‘What are they?’ The disciple replied, ‘They are wild geese, master.’ The master asked, ‘Where are they?’ The disciple replied, ‘They have flown away.’

The master suddenly caught the disciple’s nose and twisted it. The disciple cried out in pain. The master said, ‘You say they have flown away, but they have been here from the start.’ The story says the disciple became enlightened in that moment. No one outside can be a reason for your pain, because your pain itself is only your response to an external event based on your own investments!

Every time we experience pain, it leaves behind some residual feeling that remains stuck in the body. This accumulated pain creates a negative energy field around us, which we call the ‘pain body’. The pain body not only stores, but also starts reproducing many different kinds of pains.

Again and again, we share what we create. That’s what I always tell people that if wealth is created out of a pain body, we transfer the pain body along with the wealth to the next generation. Wealth should be created just out of a relaxed and blissful mood. Then the wealth can be enjoyed by the person you pass it on to.

The pain body constantly attracts the same kind of people and situations that make you feel hurt. By the very law of nature, you attract similar situations in your life. What you think, you create in your life as reality. So the more pain you harbor, the more pain you attract. Continue reading “No one outside can be a reason for your pain, because your pain itself is only your response to an external event based on your own investments!”

It is awareness that transforms pain to bliss which is the energy that exists no matter what the external situation may be!

The root of pain and pleasure is the same.

It is the same sensation with two names. It is like two people receiving a body massage from the same person. One concludes that it was a beautiful rejuvenating process while the other decides that it hurt! The same massage will appear like pain or pleasure depending on the person receiving it.

Life has both of these opposites, pleasure and pain. Both pleasure and pain are from the mind. The mind always moves from one extreme to the other. It rarely falls into the middle path. From pleasure you move to pain, from pain you move to pleasure. As we saw earlier, pleasure and pain are completely dependent on the person feeling the pleasure or pain. Something may seem like pleasure to you, while the same experience may be pain to someone else.

In the Bhagavad Gita, the great scripture that teaches the various paths to Self-realization, the enlightened master Krishna says beautifully, ‘He who regards alike pleasure and pain, and looks on a lump of earth, a stone, and a piece of gold with an equal eye, who is wise and holds praise and blame to be the same, who is unchanged in honor and dishonor, and who treats friend and foe alike, is said to have gone beyond the modes of nature. Pleasure and pain are the same to him and he is ready for enlightenment.’ Continue reading “It is awareness that transforms pain to bliss which is the energy that exists no matter what the external situation may be!”

Go to the depths of right understanding about pain and pleasure

Today I will start with the 14th verse 2nd chapter of Bhagavad Gita.

maatraa-sparshaastu kounteya sheetoshna-sukha-duhkhadaah |
aagamaa-paayino’nityaah tans-titikshasva bhaaratha II

‘Oh son of Kunti through the contact of the senses with the objects there results heat and cold which in turn give rise to pleasure and pain and these have a beginning and an end. Oh descendent of Bharata understand discrimination that they are impermanent and ignore them’

Verse after verse Krishna is throwing atomic bombs; the inner atomic bombs. If the samskaras are to be destroyed, the engrams have to be destroyed; these verses are the best inner atomic bombs. See it’s not a moral teaching; understand that is the main thing. And a person like Krishna does not believe in morality, understand that… He does not believe in the so called social moralities. And he has done everything antisocial and illegal. I am telling you everything which is antisocial when he existed illegal when he existed. When he was in the body whatever was antisocial and illegal he has done everything.

A girl asks… a small story… a girl asks a man will you love me after marriage also. The boy says that depends on your husband if he allows me. You are laughing. This is what Krishna has done. Radha is married. Do you know? Radha is married to somebody else. She was already married when these two fellows were having affair. Whatever is considered as immoral, antisocial, illegal, he has done everything. Man like him, if he speaks, understand it is a straight truth; not tainted or painted or coated or mixed with any of the social norms and rules and regulations. Why the bad people are so rich, good people are so poor. Bad people are so healthy, good people are having disease?

Listen! Listen! Whether you are good or bad is going to be decided based on whether your acts are complete with your concept of life. Understand, if your concept of life is all about pleasure and money, and your acts are complete with it, you will have that. That’s all! There is nobody to judge whether money is the ultimate purpose of life. Forget about that! God is not a judge, please understand. He only sees the kind of Completion you are carrying. And, ultimately, he does not even see that. It is an automated mechanism as far as the … Continue reading Why the bad people are so rich, good people are so poor. Life has no pleasures other than Enriching!

Questionnaire: ‘If Enriching happens by an incomplete person, it doesn’t really reach people. It might help the Enricher but the other person might be going away instead of coming. Should the Enricher be completely complete before enriching?’

Swamiji: “Completely completing” will happen ultimately only with enlightenment. So understand, Completion, Enriching, both are not supposed to be done one after another. Both are supposed to be done simultaneously.

Please understand, in Patanjali’s Yoga, there’s a word called “Ashtanga Yoga” – “Eight parts”. Somehow, unfortunately, all the English Yogis have translated this as “Eight steps of Yoga”. That one small mistake the“anga” word. “Ashta” means “eight”; there is no controversy. This “anga”, instead of translating that word as “parts”, it has been translated… – Not even word, word “parts”, too superficial. Anga word should be translated as “organs” because they have not translated this “anga” as “organ”, instead of organ they translated that as “step”, the whole Yoga tradition has become useless in the West. It has become just small few techniques or the methods to make your body flexible and little health. That’s a disgrace done to Yoga.

Please understand, when you get a diamond and use the diamond just as a vegetable cutter, vegetable cutter, it’s a disgrace to diamond. Same way, when you use such a great power, powerful science just as technique to bring little health. No. It is so unfortunate just that one mistake done by the Max Muellerians, means followers of Max Mueller, trying to translate Hindu scriptures just to destroy Hinduism, not for making the world realize the greatness of Hinduism. In my Sampradaya, in Nithyananda Sampradaya, nowhere the Max Mueller or Max Mueller translations should be accepted as a reference text book. I am banning Max Mueller and Max Muellerians translations of Hindu scriptures. They have done the translation more to abuse the Hinduism, not to make people understand Hinduism. This Max Muellerian translation of the word “Ashtanga”, instead of “the eight organs of Yoga”, it has been translated “eight steps of Yoga”. Over! And people are struggling with the second step and third step – Yama, Niyama, Asana. Over! No one crosses beyond.

Yama is “Integrity”, Niyama is “Authenticity”. Please listen, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana is “Responsibility”. Dhyana and Samadhi is “Enriching”. Continue reading “Life has no pleasures other than Enriching!”
