Whether the idea of pleasure is inserted into you, by the solid experience of pleasure or because you spontaneously lied or planned lies you created, for some reason that it is pleasure ? Find out by acid washing it with Integrity!

Listen. The other day I was explaining various levels of Integrity.

Integrity to your thought current.

There is a next level. Integrity to your lifestyle, the lifestyle you have chosen. About that, we will see later. The initial, the fundamental principle of Integrity – integrity to the thought current you cherish and you share. About that I will explain.

See, incompletions with the thought current you cherish and share, leads to tremendous confusion about your existence. Understand. The whole problem is the pattern of lying and spontaneous lying, more than others are cheated, you yourself cheat you and you do not really know what you want. I have seen, people don’t know what they want. They actually know what they want, they don’t know what they want. They actually know what they want, they don’t know what they want.

They know they want Sadāshiva and Kailasa, because 4-5 times they spoke about the cars, they think they may want cars. They know what they want, they don’t know what they want. Understand. I am repeating – ‘they know what they want, they don’t know what they want.’

The words continuously uttered, convinces you more than convincing others. That is the biggest danger. When you utter a lie, whether a planned lie or a spontaneous lie again and again, after a few times more than others, you are cheated. What will you do with the stupid cars, vacation homes? After few days, it will be bored because without looking into the reality….you see, past few times when you went to vacation, did you really enjoy something which you visualized, when you planned for a vacation? You plan for a vacation, hoping certain experience you go for it and you know what happens and you come back. In your Creation bring Integrity, in your Sustenance bring Authenticity, in your Destruction bring Responsibility, when you are in delusion decide to throw yourself away and get into Enriching!

The manifest and unmanifest components of Sadashiva is part of you.  The manifest is Sadyojatam, Tatpurusham, Aghoram, Vamadevam, Ishanam. If I put it in your user-friendly language— I should tell you, I am not translating, I am putting in user-friendly language, means roughly equating it. Tatpurusha, Aghora, Vamadeva, Sadyojata, Ishana—these are the five manifest aspects of Sadashiva. If I have to put it into user-friendly language, I should say—creation, maintenance, destruction, delusion and liberation.  Listen. You go through all the five. When you are in the mode of creation, if you add Integrity, you will manifest Sadāshiva’s creation. Listen. When you are in the mode of creation, add Integrity to you—you will manifest Sadashiva.

Let me repeat. When you are in the creation mode, add Integrity to it.

You may ask, “What is creation mode?”

When you feel like doing something active. It can be your office work, it can be manifesting wealth, it can be doing something for name and fame, including career activities. Or it can be physically creating something; art, painting, drawing, even sexual desires, activities—all this belongs to creation when you are in the creation mode, bring Integrity to you, you will manifest Sadashiva—your creativity plus integrity is Sadāshiva’s creation energy, is Sadyoyata. Only from Satya, anything can be born, Jāta means born. Sadyojata means born out of Integrity. Anything, which is born out of Integrity, only will stand forever. So the creation face of Sadashiva is Sadyojata in all your creativity. It can be as simple as cooking to as complicated as manifesting wealth. It can be as lower as you think; sexual desires, or it can be as high as higher, as creating your Enlightenment. Any creation—including manifesting powers—any creation, including manifesting powers, add Integrity to it. Out of Satya, anything born, Sadyojata, anything born out of Integrity will stay forever and do good to you. 

You all have that creation mood in you, that is Aham.  When you add Integrity to it you will become Sadāshivoham, in your creativity.

Extreme harshness of reality or extreme pleasantness of reality leads to your awakening!

Before entering into the verse, I want to explain some basic truth about Seeking, which is explained in these verses.

See if I explain the basic concepts, the truth expressed in this verse will be more experiential for all of you. When you are tired of dreaming or you can’t handle dreaming anymore, you decide to wake up. If there is a nightmare, if there is a fantasy dream, where the dream becomes too sweet, or too harsh to handle, then you wake up. Same way, the waking state, if you make it too sweet or too harsh, you will become awakened.

Making it too harsh, becoming awakened, is the lifestyle of renunciation.

Making it too sweet and waking up, is lifestyle of devotion.

Listen, I will repeat. In the dream state, if you see two tigers are chasing you or two snakes are chasing you. If it’s harsh to handle, you will wake up. Same way, if it is too fantastic, exactly the same place you always want it to be is there, the same person with whom you want to be is there, you will suddenly wake up. If it is too sweet, you will wake up, too harsh, you will wake up. So that dream state is sustained in the struggle, not in the extreme, listen, only in the struggle, the dream continues, not in the extreme. 

Same way, in the waking state, if it is extreme sweetness, you will wake up or extreme harshness, you will wake up. But as long as there is a struggle between these two, the struggle between the extreme sweetness and harshness, greed and fear is what your incompletions. As long as there is a struggle you will continue to maintain this waking state. This state you will continue to maintain. If any one takes over, it’s all over.

Allowing the lifestyle of extreme harshness and awakening, getting awakened is the lifestyle of renunciation, A Naga, Aghori. Allowing the extreme sweetness and awakening is the lifestyle of devotion, a Shaivite. Using both of process and getting awakened is the lifestyle of Nithyanandite.

I use all available, possible methods, process, kriyas to help you into awakening whether it is nightmare or fantasy dream, you will wake up. You will wake up. You will wake up.

Understand, neither fantasy dream nor nightmare will let you continue sleep. Same way, neither extreme harshness nor the extreme sweetness will help you to continue your waking state. It will lead to awakening, it will lead to awakening.

I tell you, if life itself brings the harshness and awakens you, if life itself brings that sweetness and awakens you, you will be wasting a lot of time. You voluntarily getting into that state, cooperating for your awakening is what I call Seeking. It is not that every night you wake up with the nightmare or fantasy dream. Many nights you wake up because you are too tired. 

Understand, same way in your life also, it is not that all the time you can get the extreme harsh dream, harsh reality or extreme pleasant reality. Creating either extreme harshness of reality or extreme pleasantness of reality leads to your awakening. Cooperating with the life to create the extreme harshness or extreme pleasantness is Seeking.

Either with the concept of Shiva you can make every moment of your life extremely pleasant. You know this is the place Sadashiva walked, this is the very air He breathed, this is the very forest He and Devi spent so much of time. Every tree here is the descendent of the trees which had the fortune of having darshan of Sadashiva. Still the moon and the sun is a living witnesses. You can go on cherishing this and get into the extreme pleasantness that will lead to awakening or you can deny everything including your own existence and that will lead to extreme harshness, again you will be awakened.

Use any one, cooperate with any one. Allow the awakening to happen. That’s all is essence of life. That’s all is essence of life. 

Your self-doubt, self-hatred, self-denial neither allows you to experience extreme harshness or extreme pleasantness.If you go through pleasantness, you doubt it. “No, no, no. This cannot be permanent or eternal.” If you go through harshness, you build a hope, “No, no. I will get out of it and I will have pleasantness, joy one day.” The hope stops you going through the extreme harshness. Doubt stops you going through the extreme pleasantness. When you don’t allow both, continue to enjoy your struggling state, incompletion; because only that will maintain your ordinary waking state. 

Sleep is the base material out of which the dreams can be dream. Confusion is the base material out of which this waking state can be perceived. Only when you are in the state of sleep, you can dream. Only when you are in the state of confusion, you can see this waking state. 

Understand, that is why confusion is very precious investment for you. It is one of the most precious investment. Most precious investment! But I tell you, let confusion not become your most precious investment. In every step, every line, every inch of your life, if confusion becomes your basic stand, basic foundation, then imagine the amount of time you are wasting, energy you are destroying.

There is a beautiful verse in the Taitirriya Upanishad:

anando brahmeti vyajānāt (3.6) 

Bliss is God, don’t waste it. 

You may think, what do they mean by don’t waste it. Don’t waste it by attributing it to your confusion. If you think confusion is bliss, if you maintain the stand that confusion is bliss, you are wasting your life, destroying your life. You are wasting the bliss, destroying bliss. anando brahmeti vyajānāt. 

See your day-to-day habits get recorded in your muscle memory. Your lifestyle patterns, like what you feel about you, all that, gets recorded in your bio-memory. Cleaning up your muscle memory can be done by building good habits, nut cleaning up your bio-memory – what do you feel about you consciously, can be done only by awakening the Seeking. Awakening the seeking. 

Listen carefully to this statement, to this truth. Seeking either leads you into extreme pleasantness or extreme harshness of the Reality. In both ways, it awakens you. Whether you get into completing your individual existence or whether you get into expanding your individual existence into cosmic existence.

If your individual existence becoming cosmic existence by devotion it is called Upāsanā. If your individual existence becomes nothing by allowing the cosmic existence, it is called Vipāssanā. In both extreme, you are awakened. Whether Upāsanā or Vipāssanā, you will be awakened. But go through any one extreme, only then, you will be awakened. Don’t continue to play in the field of confusion you will continue to be just in this dilemma – waking state. Dilemma destroys your dignity; takes away your respect for yourself. Dilemma destroys your dignity; takes away your respect for yourself.

 

Discovering the context of Imperishable for all the major decisions of your life is Living Enlightenment

I will expand on Isavasya Upanishad. Usually when I come to Varanasi I speak on Kathopanishad. This time I decided I will continue on Isavasya Upanishad because last time we couldn’t spend much time on Kathopanishad. I was expanding on 14th verse of Isavasya Upanishad. 

sambḥutiṁ ca vināśaṁ ca..

Actually I am uttering only one word. One word easily you all can recite. Listen and repeat. You don’t have to feel intimidated, ‘Oh Sanskrit. I don’t know.’ I am not giving you long words. Please understand, these sounds are very powerful, they can sit inside your inner space, go on purifying on. They are like powerful inner purifiers. So listen and recite.

sambḥutiṁ ca vināśaṁ ca yastad vedobhayaṁ saha |

vināśena mṛtyuṁ tīrtvā sambhūtyāmṛtam aśnute || 14 || 

Just recite. It’s the 14th verse of Isavasya Upanishad. I will give you the translation.

One who cognizes the pure essence of these both—the imperishable consciousness, the cause of manifestation and the destructible, the perishable, manifested entities, simultaneously—such a person completes with the fear of death and transcends death by worshiping or by knowledge of the perishable entities; and reaches the imperishable consciousness; celebrates the nectar of immortality and bliss, the eternal space of oneness.

Discovering the context of imperishable for your job, all your major decisions of life is what I call living enlightenment

sambḥutiṁ ca vināśaṁ ca yastad vedobhayaṁ saha |

vināśena mṛtyuṁ tīrtvā sambhūtyāmṛtam aśnute || 14 ||

Somebody asked Buddha, “Buddha, how you see your Sangha growing in the future?” He says very beautifully, “if my Sannyasis are able to inspire the truth of imperishable on the Grihastas, what I want will happen. The other way, if the Grihastas are able to inspire the Sannyasis about the perishable, it will happen as they want”. Understand, very simple word. Even in our Sangha, I can just shout out names, straight away I can shout out names. Instead of Sannyasis impressing, inspiring the people about the imperishable, Grihastas have inspired the Sannyasis about perishable. Of course, ultimately one truth is how much of perishable is inside you, how much of imperishable is inside you, that decides whether you are going to be a Sannyasi or a Grihasta. That’s the truth.

It is your strength and the amount of imperishable you worship, the akshara, undying component of you which is the strength. Read More

Nidhidhyasana

I translate the word Nidhidhyasana with my own authority as “RADIATING”. Even though the word literally means “Expressing” or “Living”, I am translating this word as Radiating. It is a little more powerful!

What I mean exactly by the word Nidhidhyasana“Radiating”?

Please understand, let your every decision every moment, every action every moment, every word every moment be aligned to what you authentically listened (shravana) and to what you authentically internalized (manana). Removing the gap between your internalized, intranalyzed great truths and your living.

If you authentically listened, if you have done Shravana, listening authentically, Manana, intranalyzing authentically, you will be radiating authentically. Nothing can be done about it! When the Shravana, listening, and Manana, intranalyzing, happens authentically, Nidhidhyasana, radiating will happen authentically.

Intranalyzing and Radiating! Please listen, your life needs to be constantly powerful. You should be living to do what you want. You should be talking to get the result of what you want. You should be talking to move the other person the way you want. You should be talking into the listening of the listener! You should not be talking fighting with the patterns of the listener. You should be talking into the listening of the listener!

When will that happen?

If you are established into your listening, you will talk into the other person’s listening.

If I have to simply translate the word radiating in a very colloquial way, “Nidhidhyasana”, “radiating” means:

Minding your business! Not wasting your life! Laziness, boredom, diversion do not have a place in your life when you are radiating. It is straightforward! “Radiating” means RADIATING! Live your life intensely. Live your life authentically. Live your life with strength. Live your life without confusion.

First thing you need to learn to radiate, for Nidhidhyasana is: Learn to think and speak with the same cognition you arrive at by intranalyzing.

Please understand, I am explaining step-by-step:

First, you authentically listen to the great truths. Whenever you authentically listen, whatever you listen will be converted as great truths by your inner-space. Your inner-space has the capability, it has the power to separate right and wrong.

In Vedic Tradition, we have a beautiful example called Paramahamsa! The bird Hamsa (Swan), if you mix rice and some other items, it will separate the rice and only eat that. If you mix milk and water and keep that, it will suck only the milk and leave the water! The Hamsa, the bird Hamsa has that power. Same way, a man who takes the right things inside and leaves the unnecessary things outside is “Paramahamsa” (Supreme Swan). If you bring authentic listening into you, you will become Paramahamsa! Anything you listen, you know what to internalize and what to reject, what to internalize and what to reject.

Authentic listening brings tremendous clarity. See, it is clarity which is really lacking in the seekers’ life. Especially when somebody is interested to get enlightened, live the life of a Jeevan Muktha, clarity is a very predominantly important quality, a very predominantly important quality! Please listen! Clarity! Shankara has written a separate book on this subject – Viveka Choodamani. The whole book is on “Clarity”. Authentic listening leads to clarity.

And intranalyzing, Manana, leads to cognitive shift. If you don’t live that cognitive shift powerfully, you will lose it! Please understand!

Powerfully living the cognitive shift is what I call “Radiating”.

I tell you, how to find out whether you are radiating or not? Simply life around you will constantly be getting enriched, that is the signal! If the constant enriching is happening, then you are radiating! Around me, whether you are six or sixty, eight or eighty, you cannot go without getting enriched! “Radiating” means, such powerful body language, such powerful words, such powerful thinking, you go on enriching, constantly winning the game of life!

I tell you, Nidhidhyasana means “having the power to live from the space of Completion and establishing everyone in the space of Completion”.

“Radiating” means, every word you utter will be from the strength of that cognitive shift, the excitement of that cognitive shift.

I had a cognitive shift when my Guru blessed me, ‘You will always be taken care of by the Cosmos!’ I had that cognitive shift. Immediately I decided to live it. I threw everything, whatever I had as security in my life – the house, family, relatives – and started my yatra. I said I will learn to teach; I will learn, teach, and learn to teach. I can say that was my purpose of spiritual pilgrimage: Learning and teaching, and learning to teach. I started my yatra, I started my journey.

Understand, “radiating” means, powerfully living the cognitive shift you experience, powerfully risking to taste the power of the cognitive shift in your reality, and proving the cognitive shift in your reality.

When I left the house, I did not want to disprove that blessing given to me that the Cosmos takes care of me; I wanted to prove that blessing that the Cosmos takes care of me. Many times, when you take the risk, you take the risk to disprove. ‘Come on, let me see, will the Cosmos take care of me? I will leave everything and go. Let me see whether it is going to give me food or not!’ No! Living, deciding to prove it, to make it into reality. When I left the house, I know it is the truth and I have decided I will prove this into reality, to teach the power of spiritual pilgrimage to the world. I tell you, the spiritual yatra, pilgrimage itself is a powerful spiritual practice. Pilgrimage itself is a powerful spiritual practice! Because I did it, I proved the power of the Cosmos protecting!

I can define Nidhidhyasana: “Living with such intensity and risking everything for the understanding you have by your intranalyzing”.

When you are radiating, enriching will happen as a side-effect. You don’t even need to bother about it! Enriching is the first side-effect of Nidhidhyasana. Whether you are living or not can be understood by the way the enriching is happening. Enriching!

I am giving you the essence of Nidhidhyasana:

First, intense thinking and authentic speaking, speaking into the listening of the listener, speaking to move the listener as you want. Sometimes we speak just to catharsise – ‘Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah…’ – and we are happy with it! No, really! That is not Nidhidhyasana. Nidhidhyasana means speaking into the listening of the listener, so that he’s moved, by your words, and living the cognitive shift you have. Only when you live, you respect the cognitive shift. Only when you respect the cognitive shift, it becomes part of your life.

The three words of Vedanta for enlightened life – ‘shravana,’ authentic listening, ‘manana,’ intranalyzing, ‘nidhidhyasana,’ authentic living, radiating!

When you radiate, you go on win the game of live, every time, everywhere.
