I had the great fortune of living in an amazing Gurukul in Tiruvannamalai. Multiple Hindu specialists in Adi-Shaivam, Vedanta, Siddhanta, Bhakti Sampradaya fields reproduced their Enlightenment in My system. Whatever I received from My Gurus, I am sharing it and reproducing it in My Gurukul.

I will reveal about my own gurukul! My whole life is gurukul! First 21 years I myself had gurukul under various gurus and their gurukuls, from my first guru – my mother.

Mother is always the first guru for everyone because she starts teaching you the basic things of life. Then, my grandfather who started taking me to temple, my adishaiva guru, Panduranganar, my yoga guru Raghupathi yogi, my vedanta guru Isakki Swamigal, my tantra guru Ma Vibhutananda Puri, Annamalai Swamigal, Visiri Swamigal – the whole Tiruvannamalai is the best amazing Gurukul! The temple is like a practical laboratory. Each branch’s masters, specialists of each field were available in the whole city. It is literally the largest living Hindu University. I have seen the Masters who have so visibly, directly, shamelessly declaring the power of Mahadeva!

Somebody has put a comment on Facebook: ‘Why in India they didn’t build hospitals, schools?  How do you call them as evolved civilization?’  In every village, the largest building of the village is the common utility building where we had school, hospital, cinema theater, art gallery, teaching place, and, ultimately, teaching enlightenment.  The place, we call it as “TEMPLE”!  Understand?  We call that as “TEMPLE”.  “ALL”!  It is not just a “Mall”; it is “All”!  Everything about life is done there,  whether storing the grain, teaching principles, or medical-care, everything is done there.  And, moreover, our lifestyle was such, we didn’t need so much of hospitalization.  From the beginning we were taking care of ourselves. And an important thing, very important thing, when time comes, we were gracefully able to leave, say “bye bye”!  Because, we know we will come back!  We were not that poor psychologically or consciously that we were holding on to one body.  See, when you want to hold on to that one body only you need so much of medical-care.  We just know, when we need, we will make the body recover.  When it is time, body is too damaged, come on drop it, pick up another one!

We trust metal more than currency, because, for ages we have been a metal civilization, not currency civilization.  Understand, currency was pushed upon us very recently.  Those days, even currency had a value because of the metal in which the currency is made.  Currency itself independently did not have a value.  The gold with which the coin is made, that gold had a value, not declaration by the king or the administrator that this is this much valuable.  Understand, trusting only Vaishyas for wealth was our civilization.  Now our money is by Kshatriyas, politicians, administrators.  Please understand, that is why I am saying, your money is not money!  Because, the person who is going to transact, that community what they value only can be valuable in society.  See, when there is a crisis, what is going to get you your food, that is decided only by Vaishyas, not by Kshatriyas.  But, it is unfortunate, the whole lot of confusion. Based on the purity of food, your intellect gets purified, your memory gets purified, your ability to grasp increases.

Please understand, whenever my teachers wanted to teach subtle concepts…..  I should not use the word “teacher”; I should use the word “Masters”.  I wanted to complete and change the word to “Masters”.  Whenever my Masters wanted to teach me the subtle concepts, they will put me on herbal diet.  They will give me the “Arugampull” (அருகம்புல்).  I don’t know the English name for that grass.  It is a unique grass which grows near the water ponds, which is used for worshipping Ganesha.  So, they will give that juice.  Sometimes the Bael juice, Vilwa (Aegle marmelos, commonly known as bael, golden apple, stone apple, wood apple).  Sometimes Bermuda Grass.  The “Arugampulls” English name is “Bermuda Grass”.  They will give me the Bermuda Grass juice and Bael juice.  Sometimes Neem juice.  And, they will cook pineapple fruit in the night, and they will take the juice in the morning and process it with some traditional herbs and give.  This kind of a juice diet they will put me.  Of course, I enjoyed everything other than Neem juice.  HAHAHAHAHA!  They will put me on the juice diet sometimes even for one month!  I used to wonder why the teaching, means learning of Vedantha, should go with this kind of herbal diet.  One day, I asked them also.  Then they said, ‘Alright, you eat whatever you want and come back.’  And, as usual, in those days, the big feast means that “Vadai” and “Paayasam”  (Vadai = a fried snack.  Paayasam = a semi-liquid sweet dish).  That is the traditional feast.  I went and had all the traditional feast and came back.  They tried to explain some of the concepts, truths of Vedantha.  I tell you honestly, I was not able to grasp!  Then they gave me Gingelly Oil (Sesame Oil) and cleaned my stomach, and Haritaki Powder for two days.  After two-three days, again they started teaching me the concepts.  I was just like that able to grasp!  Then I understood the power of that food and that sutra which says, ‘Aahaara Shuddhi….’:  “Based on the purity of food, your intellect gets purified, your memory gets purified, your ability to grasp increases.” Continue reading “Based on the purity of food, your intellect gets purified, your memory gets purified, your ability to grasp increases.”

If you grasp ‘What is “Unmoving”?’, you will grasp, ‘Who Am I?’, ‘What Am I?’

I will expand on the fourth verse of Ishavasya Upanishad.  Please recite along with me.

अनेजदेकं मनसो जवीयो नैनधेवा आप्नुवन्पुर्वमर्षत् |

तद्धावतोऽन्यानत्येत तिष्ठत् तस्मिन्नपो मातरिश्वा दधाति ||

Anejadhekam Manaso Javeeyo Nainadhdheva Aapnuvanpurvamarshath |

ThadhDhaavathonyanathyetha Thishttath Thasminnapo Maatharishva dhadhDhaathi ||

Understand, yesterday I was expanding on why these qualities of Consciousness, Eesha, are described.  As I said, even if you describe a negative quality, Eesha becomes Eeshwara.  The moment you try to perceive, relate, connect, even to become one with Eesha, he has to grace us as Eeshwara.  Only then he can make us as Eesha.

Please listen!  Again and again, I repeat, “Aham” can never become “Shivoham”.  Only Shiva can extend himself and just take the whole “Aham” inside and radiate as “Shivoham”.  Eesha, the pure space, the Consciousness, without any attributes, you cannot even give the attribute of “Super-Consciousness” or “Super Super-Consciousness”.  The attributeless.  I can say, “attributeless” is not a proper word; that word doesn’t convey the meaning.  “Unattributable” – you cannot attribute anything.  That Consciousness, the moment you try to describe, positively or negatively, the moment you try to describe – ‘Oh, it is compassionate.  It is ever-loving.  It is graceful.’ – then you are giving a positive description.  Or, if you do negative description – ‘It cannot be realized by mind, speech, senses, where the life energy moves and expands.’ – where you give the negative description – ‘Gods of senses cannot overtake and go beyond it.’ – “Nainadhdheva Aapnuvanpurvamarshath” (नैनधेवा आप्नुवन्पुर्वमर्षत्), ‘It cannot be cut by the sword and what not’.

Understand, whether you give positive attributions or negative descriptions, the Eesha becomes Eeshwara to support us to experience Eesha.  But Eesha and Eeshwara are not two; it is pure Oneness.  Listen!  Eesha and Eeshwara are not two; it is pure Oneness.

That is why working on the Consciousness, whether during the positive attributes, or through the negative descriptions, makes us experience Eesha, the Consciousness. Continue reading “If you grasp ‘What is “Unmoving”?’, you will grasp, ‘Who Am I?’, ‘What Am I?’”

Upanishads make you live Advaitha by giving you Sacred Knowledge, Sacred Sentiment and Sacred Cognition.

Satchidananda is not delusion or illusion or imagination. Satchidananda, living Satchitananda is possible. That is the first statement I want to give about Living Advaitha.

Second: The understandings you need, understandings you need for the spiritual possibility, understandings you need for the spiritual possibility, listen, the understandings you need for the spiritual possibility is “Jnana”, Sacred Knowledge.

Sacred Sentiments you need to have, you need certain kind of emotional strength when you go through the transformation. When you start living Advaitha, certain emotional strength is required, and the intensity of the passion and emotion can be used to explode into Living Advaitha to take you to the next, next, next levels. Bharata Desha was ideologically centred, economically independent! It was such a powerful, beautiful, unimaginable, inimitable system!

I will continue to expand on the truths I was revealing about “desha” (“देश” ) and “nation”.

Understand, “desha”, the very concept of “desha” is from the truth of the Vedic Tradition:

|| अन्नम् बहु कुर्वीत ||

“Annam Bahu Kurveetha”.

Listen! अन्नम् बहु कुर्वीत (“Annam Bahu Kurveetha”); means, “Let us produce food in large quantities”.

Producing not just food, but everything in large quantity, and making it available to everyone as easily as possible is “desha”.

“Nation” means, even the natural things, making it as complicated as possible, and not letting the common-man have access to it, through this claiming your superiority.

Understand, there is a big difference. In original Vedic Civilization, the concept of “desha” is: “Produce as much as you can and exchange it”. It was not that in Vedic Civilization we did not have business. We had! But there was never a low value for shoes and high value for knowledge, understand? It is the modern civilization which is really caste-oriented. The moment you put low value for shoes and high value for food or knowledge, you have already made a difference between Brahmana and Shudra! There was never valuation between shoes and knowledge. The man who produces shoes, produces in large quantity, and makes it available to his community. The man who makes knowedge, makes it available for everyone. Don’t ever spread the lie that Shudras were not allowed, did not have access to education. No! No! Continue reading “Bharata Desha was ideologically centred, economically independent! Living Advaitha VII

…continued from Living Advaitha VI

Please understand, when you have described your identity, when you describe consciously how you want to be and ask your teamily to support you, give you the input, what all the incompletions you may have to complete, and after the teamily gives the input if you also work with it and complete all the incompletions you are carrying.

Please understand, I am giving you some of the examples so that you can be very practical and very precise.  Please listen, I will give you some of the most practical hints. See, for example, if you want always people should perceive you as a loving, caring, joyful being, the first thing you need to complete is, you may be having a deep non-trusting attitude.  Listen!  In the heart if you carry the non-trusting attitude, naturally, neither you will be comfortable with people, nor people will be comfortable with you.  So, first thing you need to do is completing with the non-trusting attitude and building up the ability to trust.  May be, if you tell your whole teamily that this is where you need to do Completion, your whole teamily will be constantly reminding you.

Teamily is nothing but the embodiment of Guru surrounding you from all corners.  Listen!  Teamily is nothing but embodiment of Guru surrounding you from all corners, constantly reminding you.

If you always want to be perceived as a loving, caring, blissful being, you have a deep incompletion about trusting others, if you tell this to everyone, share this with your whole teamily, your whole teamily will be constantly helping you to separate and see your insecurity and the real, actual threat possibility.  Many times, if the threat possibility is even very small, because of your insecurity you cannot trust, your teamily can constantly help you to separate these two.  And, I tell you, only when you separate these two, you make a successful right strategy even for your security.  When you are constantly agitated about the cockroach, you allow the scorpion in your bed!  Because, constantly, you are frightened about the cockroach, you are too busy in protecting you from the cockroach, you allow the cobra and scorpion in your bed!  They both are sitting there to receive you!  When you separate the real possibility of threat and your incompletion, insecurity superimposed, these two separate, listen, listen, only then, only then even the security will be better.  The whole teamily will help you, support you, constantly remind you.  That is why the teamily.  But, I am very clear, I don’t want anybody other than your teamily to know your incompletions.  An onlooker or a person on the street can exploit you constantly.  I don’t want that.  The teamily should be a loving space for you to grow. Like how you help youraasandhari to grow.

I tell you, some of the best moments of my life was when I was serving Arunagiri Yogishwara, Raghupathi Yogi, and a great sadhu in Ramakrishna Mission, Swami Gautamananda.  Of course, Swami Gautamananda will never even imagine I will still be carrying so much of love and reverence and respect for him in my heart, but, the time I served him, I got an insider’s view of a powerful sadhu’s life.  Understand, he was not an ordinary sannyasi of the Ramakrishna Order; he was one of the Trustees.  Ramakrishna Mission has only eleven Trustees, and he was one, and a senior Trustee.  I think he now even gives initiation.  In Ramakrishna Mission, only one or two people are allowed to give initiation in the whole Order.  He is one of the two-three who give initiation, Mantra Deeksha.  So, such a top-level sadhu.  When I had the possibility to see his life very closely….Wow!  I tell you, the amount of integrity and purity with the whole day spent, the amount of integrity and purity used even to take administrative decisions of the organization, not just the personal decisions, even the administrative decisions of the organization!  I tell you, as long as we remain pure, we retain our integrity even in our administrative decisions, we will continue to exist.
