Does the master choose the disciple or does the disciple choose the master?

First thing, it is actually the disciple who chooses the master. Because master never chooses. The master just showers. He is like the sacred river Ganga. He just flows. If you want, you will enter the river, immerse yourself, drink or play – whatever you want you do. But Ganga itself just flows. It does not choose. So it is with the master. The first conscious step towards responsibility towards oneself and to the world is Sannyas

The river heads only towards the sea. It does not stagnate anywhere. A sannyasi heads only towards his goal of enlightenment. He knows no distractions. The river flows blissfully, whatever be the things thrown into it on its way. So many things are thrown into the river – flowers, twigs, food, animals, birds, dead bodies, etc. But the river flows, not bothering about anything. Similarly, a sannyasi moves blissfully, untouched by anything that comes his way. The current pulls the river over its obstacles, and it gurgles, with a constant music, moving towards the sea. The cosmic intelligence pulls the sannyasi over obstacles as he moves towards the ultimate goal. He knows not what obstacles are. For him, they are all stepping stones on the path to bliss. Existence flows through Enlightened Masters like air flowing through hollow bamboo creating music, that is why they are so beautiful!

Enlightened master’s grace is the grace of the whole of Existence. They are the only utterly innocent beings on planet earth.

Trust is an attitude. It is not a substitute for appropriate action. The spirit of trust is the essence of the very life. It leads to innocence, surrender, relaxation and bliss. If it is followed out of complete understanding, there is nothing to lose in its path. Until then, you are still on the path to trust.

All great enlightened beings are eternally blissful because they have surrendered their very body to Existence with trust. Existence flows through them like air flowing through hollow bamboo creating music. That is why they are so beautiful. When Existence flows through, the expression is divine. Enlightened master’s grace is the grace of the whole of Existence. They are the only utterly innocent beings on planet earth. Enlightened masters are established in the knowing that nothing is impossible in the space of Existence. They are living embodiments of trust. Their bliss is an expression of this. They have access to all the knowledge of the world but are yet utterly innocent. They know that their knowledge is the knowledge of Existence. Their knowledge is not knowledge but a flowing experience of the truth of the moment. Truth is that universal or cosmic intelligence responds to every thought of ours!

This may be a surprising revelation, but the truth is that universal or cosmic intelligence responds to every thought of ours. Interesting research by Japanese scientist, Dr. Masaru Emoto shows this point very clearly.

Dr. Masaru Emoto did experiments on water. He collected water samples from different sources and exposed them to various kinds of thoughts. Then he froze the samples and studied their crystalline structure through a microscope with the help of high-speed photography. Thousands of these crystals were studied under tightly regulated conditions of temperature, cooling time and lighting. He did various experiments on these water samples, playing different types of music to the water, talking to the water, reading out from ancient life teachings, praying with a certain intention etc.

He found that when the water samples were exposed to healing music, the water crystals that formed were very beautiful and graceful. The water exposed to negative feelings or thoughts did not form crystals but rather an irregular structure which reflected the emotions of the person handling them.

Another series of experiments was done to study the effect of words and sounds. The water used was distilled water. The water sample was divided into two parts and placed in different bottles, one labeled ‘Thank you’ and the other labeled ‘You are a fool’ in different languages such as English, Japanese and Korean. After exposure to these labels, the frozen water samples when examined under the microscope showed a clear difference in the crystal structure. Paramahamsa Nithyananda Swamiji’s own conscious death experience in Varanasi

Let me narrate to you my own conscious death experience in Varanasi.

I always used to think that I should have an experience of death, that I should face death directly. But somehow, that thought never became a priority. For any experience to happen, the related thought has to become the topmost priority. It should not just be in one corner of your mind.

Usually on our ‘to do’ lists, we have washing, cleaning, paying the rent and phone bill, and finally if time permits, enlightenment also! No! Enlightenment will not happen if it is this way. Only when it becomes a top priority, only when the urge becomes urgent, everything around you will start aligning itself for the experience to happen in you. This is the case not just with enlightenment. With anything, it is true.

Understand, if at all you are complaining that what you wish to happen is not happening, it is because it has not become the topmost on your priority list, nothing else. Nothing else and no one else should be blamed for it. You will see that the moment it becomes the topmost priority, there will be an energy play that comes into being and it will simply happen. Until then, it will wait for you, that’s all. The death experience was not my top priority and so somehow, it was getting postponed. Fire, Dhi is responsible for the knowledge to happen in you and it gets fully awakened by Integrity!

I will repeat the verse once, read out the translation. Then give you the commentary.

agne naya supathā rāye asmān viśvāni deva vayunāni vidvān |

yuyodhy asmaj juhurāṇam eno bhūyiṣṭhāṁ te nama-uktiṁ vidhema || 18 ||

I will read out the exact translation.

“O Agni, the Fire God! Knower of all our actions, and all that is worth knowing, you must take us along the righteous and auspicious path of completion..”

Please listen, you need to understand this, first line “O Agni, the Fire God! Knower of all our actions and all that is worth knowing” – means: even the modern science proves when your brain knows something that area gets lit up. The knowing action happens when the Fire moves into the certain part of the brain. Please understand, everything may be there outside you, you will not know if the Fire does not move in your brain. If the Fire moves in your brain, only then you will know what is happening. So, Fire is responsible for knowledge, knowing to happen in you.

Listen carefully.

Fire is responsible for the knowledge to happen in you. I tell you, Fire gets fully awakened by integrity. Nothing, just follow intensely integrity, in twelve months you will have a kind of a Fire in you through which you can know anything you want to know. Anything which comes in front of you, and you want to know it, you will know it. That fire is called ‘dhi’ in Sanskrit we use the word, a single letter ‘dhi’. All the ancient languages the fire is addressed as ‘dhi’. In Sanskrit, in Tamil, in many of the ancient languages. Listen, ‘Dhi’ comes as a gift to you, because of your integrity. Just twelve months decide, I will live in the space of integrity, no question of missing. Its just awareness, awareness practice, nothing else. The ‘dhi’ will be awakened in your brain. That ‘dhi’ will give you the intelligence to know everything you want, anything you want. The best way to participate with the life without tiredness or boredom is ‘listening’!

Whether you understand or not, experience or not, believe or not, you are nothing but ‘word’.  Understand. You are nothing but ‘word’.  You are just nothing but a word you create inside you about you, about world, about everything.  The word you create inside you about you, about others, about everything – you are just that, please understand. 

Vivekananda says very beautifully, when he was speaking in the West he says very jovially, “In our country, even if we want to become rich, we don’t go to market and work.  We don’t go to market-place.  We just go and sit under the tree or inside a cave and start chanting some words, and we become rich!”

Please understand, how much ever you logically analyze, it will not fit.  You may think, ‘If I go and sit in the Himalayas, one cave, and just start chanting, chanting, chanting, chanting, will I become rich?’  Please understand, I am not the guy who will spread superstitious things and I don’t speak illogical things.  I am not an atheist to speak superstitious things.  I am not a so-called irrational rationalist.  India is full of them.  India has more number of so-called irrational rationalists than the number of rats. Man who celebrates Life is worshipped. Man who is constantly complaining is worshipping.

Listen, every moment the happening in you, means your Life. Listen carefully..Life. You may be marching towards your goal to achieve something in the outer world or inner world or you may just be confused and stuck. Whatever, but Life IS happening to you. Please understand, even feeling confused and getting stuck, is Life happening. Sometime people feel, you are not even letting us live in confusion and depression little bit. Understand, confusion and feeling stuck, is Life happening. Life happening. So, in this happening of Life, whenever you change the game, like the rules with which you need to play with the matter, if you play it with Consciousness; the rules with which you need to play with Consciousness, if you play with matter.

A ship is very safe, most secured in the port, when it docked, whatever, but it is not created just for that purpose. Understand, if you always decide based on law of life — if the ship is parked or locked in the port, it is very safe, most secured. Yes, no doubt! But the purpose of ship is not just being docked in the port.

Am I changing due to boredom, am I re-strategizing, re-inventing myself out of my seeking?

Please listen, I am using little tall words. See sometimes the tall words are required to tell you what I am talking about is a tall philosophy. If I am doing small talks, I can use silly words. But if I am explaining some tall philosophical truths, sacred secrets, tall words are required. Listen, giving in to your pattern compulsions are not freedom; unfortunately, the western society is teaching you, the western civilization is teaching you, the materialistic civilization is teaching you, giving in to your pattern compulsions is freedom, and they supply material for your pattern compulsions, and swindle you, rob you. Giving in to your pattern compulsions are not freedom. If you think that is the freedom, you are stupid; that is the right word I will use, you are stupid. Don’t give in to your pattern compulsions. Make seeking as the compelling reality of you. Let the seeking be the first response from you.

Let me define Seeking. Please listen, let me define Seeking.

Whatever I feel as ‘me,’ what is that? It is constantly changing, dilly dallying, sometime it feels good, sometime it is bad, sometimes right, sometimes wrong, sometimes knowledgeable, sometimes ignorant. What is it? What am I? You should not even as ‘who am I,’ because the moment you say—“Who am I”—you already assumed you are a being.

You should only ask the word—“What am I?” because you don’t even know whether you are a being or some inanimate object. The word ‘Who am I’ comes with the presumption you are a being, even that is not sure. Only when you realize who you are, you can be a being; till then, you are just only innate existence. Let your body be Fire! Let your mind be Light. Intensely alive! Let your Consciousness be self-effulgent, always radiant!

Those who worship avidyā, the ignorance that veils the true knowledge of truth, Consciousness, enter into blinding darkness, but into greater darkness of ignorance than that enter they who, considering themselves as learned, are engaged in vidyā, the incomplete knowledge acquired for vested interests, characterized by impure truth about Consciousness.

Listen. I will explain step by step. Listen. I will explain the key point in this verse directly: now all of you have done Vaakyartha Sadas for last so many days, what is Consciousness? What is All-pervasiveness? What is without coming and going? What is muscle-less, woundless, all these you would have done. At one point, you will feel stuck, it is natural. At that moment, if you decide, “it’s ok, but I will continue to dig”, you are Living Enlightenment. At that moment, you think, “ah, whatever I learned, with that, let me make whatever I need in life, like comforts, name and fame, who knows, leave it,” then, that is avidya.

When your brain associates itself with Consciousness as That itself, it will start cognizing, taking actions, decisions, everything based on That. Literally your whole brain will lit up; your whole heart will lit up; your whole body will lit up! Maybe that is why it is called Enlightenment! The whole thing will be lit up! The most subtlest experience of Consciousness you got when you were alive, that will only automatically open up when you leave the body

By defining Consciousness, Upaniṣads are asking us to align ourself again to the context.

Pure Consciousness is all-pervasive, beyond the coming and going, absolute radiant, and self-effulgent, unembodied, boundaryless whole, beyond the subtle body, woundless, muscleless, having no incompletion with the body, beyond the gross body. Consciousness is the ever pure space devoid of the dirt of ignorance, beyond the causal body, and is untouched by the delusion of incompletion.

This description, this description itself needs to be meditated. I wanted that today’s Vākyārtha Sadas should be held on: What is the meaning of each of these words? Pure Consciousness is all-pervasive, then what is that all-pervasive? Beyond Space! Earth is not all-pervasive, water is not all-pervasive; Fire is not all-pervasive; Air is not all-pervasive, even Space is not all-pervasive, then what is it, subtler than the Space which is all-pervasive? Ability to visualize? No! There are so many tons of things which can’t be visualized. There are so many things which can’t even be thought about. Then what is Pure Consciousness? When you contemplate, you will have ‘click’. Please understand, every contemplation on Pure Consciousness will give you a ‘click’, that is Consciousness for you. And if you further contemplate on it, you will have a better, and deeper and subtler understanding and ‘click.’ These clicks getting refined is Spiritual Growth. Be powerful and creative; you will never be doing mistake!

Today I will expand on Mahadeva’s “Love Current”. First, let me define and make you understand what is “Love Current”, why I am suddenly turning the whole Upanishad towards Love.

Listen! I don’t utter a single word which is not required. I am not speaking because I have to speak; I am speaking because I have something to speak, understand? I am not speaking because I have to speak; I am speaking because I have something to speak.

यस्मिन् सर्वाणि भूतान्यात्मैवाभूद् विजानतः ।
तत्र को मॊहः कः शॊक एकत्वमनुपश्यतः ॥
Yasmin SarvaaNi Bhoothaani Aathmaivaabhoodh Vijaanathaha |
Tathra Ko Mohaha Kah Shoka Ekathvam Anupashyathaha ||

“In one who has cognized the reality, all existing beings become the very Self. Then what delusion, what sorrow of incompletion can there be for that Seer living in the space of Oneness, Living Advaitha?”

Listen! It is love that gives you the experience of Advaitha immediately as a jump-start. It is love that gives you that experience. This verse of the Ishavasya Upanishad is the Pure Science. Love is the Applied Science. Love is the method and utility value of this verse. Listen! “Method” means: To reach this experience. “Utility Value” means: After reaching the experience what is the use of that experience in life. For both, the answer is love. To reach the experience of Ekathwa, Oneness, and utility of the Oneness in your life, the utility of the experience of Oneness in your life, Ekathwa, both, both, both are love.
