Our real restfulness lies only in the state of being. Because of this, however much we do and have, we still search for restfulness. This feeling is the ‘call of the being’.

You are not aware of all the things that are happening in front of you! You do not remember your biography as it happened, you remember it only as you want it!

How does our mind work?

How do we create thoughts and how do we give meaning to them?

How do we experience life?

Let me give you a simple diagram to understand how thoughts flow in the mind and how you connect them.

Each thought in your mind is shown here as a rectangle. Each is a different shape, size, and color. Different thoughts are continuously flowing in you. One may be related to pain or a painful experience. Another may be related to joy or a joyful experience. The next one may be related to joy, but you think of it as pain. It is referred to as JP on the chart – joyful experience, painful impression. Similarly you may have a thought that is related to a painful experience, but you think of it as joy. It is referred to as PJ – painful experience, joyful impression.

Generally, all your thoughts are related to something about the past or the future. You cannot have thoughts about the present. In the present moment you can have only consciousness, no thoughts. Thoughts are either related to some joyful experiences that you had in the past and want to have in the future, or painful experiences that you had in the past and don’t want to have again.

Even at the time of some serious problem, you will suddenly have a positive thought. Even in the peak of joy, you will have some unconnected negative thought. Each thought is completely independent, completely unconnected to the previous thought. That is why you are able to have a happy thought amidst sad thoughts and vice versa.

Understand that no two thoughts are logically connected. No thought is responsible for the creation of another thought. They all appear randomly, independently, and illogically.

How do you ‘unclutch’ from this random stream of thoughts?

We will be using the word ‘unclutch’ again and again. Let’s clearly define what is meant by ‘unclutch’. When we change gears while driving a car, whether we change from first to second, or second to third, or any gear for that matter, we have to pass through neutral every time. We have to completely depress the clutch, or ‘unclutch’, move through neutral, and only then we can go to the next gear, right? In the same way, we experience a neutral space between any two thoughts in our mind. That neutral space, that silence that exists between two thoughts, is peace and bliss. When we no longer grab onto thoughts and connect them to the past or future, we remain ‘unclutched’. As we remain ‘unclutched’ from our thoughts we become more aware of the neutral spaces between thoughts. The gap between the thoughts will automatically extend when we remain ‘unclutched’ from the stream of thoughts. We will dwell in the neutral space longer and experience more and more peace and bliss.

When you suddenly become aware, any thought that flows in front of you becomes your life for that moment. You start giving attention to it, either to fulfill it or to escape from it. It is like slides on a projector. Any slide that is kept in front of the projector light is seen as reality on the screen. The problem is that in your inner space, the projector light is not continuously on. When I say projector light, I mean your awareness. It just comes and goes, comes and goes – you are not fully, continuously aware.

Many times, even though your eyes are open and your body is moving, you are not aware of your existence. An example from everyday life is like when you get into your car and drive for half an hour to the office. It is only after you reach the office, park the car, and get out, do you suddenly realize, ‘Oh, I have reached the office!’ It means that in those moments of driving, the projector light was off most of the time.\

Any slide that is placed in front of the projector during moments that the projector light, your awareness, is off is not part of your life. You don’t remember it at all. When the light comes on again, when your awareness comes back again, whatever thought you have at that time becomes a part of you. Understand that this is a very subtle truth. Your life is the totality of all the thoughts you have when you are aware and unaware.
Unfortunately, many times there are thoughts, many major decisions, and life- changing incidents that happen when you are not aware. These are also part of your life, part of your biography. Unfortunately, you are not aware of these scenes, decisions, or thoughts when they come up. Without your knowledge they have contributed significantly to your life. Be very clear, every moment that passes in your life without you being aware of it, without your presence, is suffering. You will either directly or indirectly create situations for suffering. Just like when the turn indicator light in your car blinks, your consciousness blinks also. But, because of your lack of awareness, you do not know when it is on and when it is off. I read a joke the other day:

One man got into his car and started the engine. He flipped on the turn indicator and asked his son to see if the light blinked in the rear of the car.

His son shouted back, ‘Yes, it’s on…no, it’s not on…yes it’s on…no it’s off…now it’s on!’

If you just see the thought flow in front of you, suddenly you will realize, ‘Oh god, all these things are actually going on in me! I don’t have a clue where I am heading. I don’t know what is happening in me!’

You are not aware, but constantly you believe you are aware. That is the first illusion.
If you become aware continuously, you open up to reality for the first time. It might be a bit intense initially, because until now, you have spent most of your time in unawareness. Ultimately, it will lead you to experience only joy and bliss.

This is the first truth. You are not aware of all the things that are happening in front of you. You do not remember your biography as it happened. You remember it only as you want it.

Just take a simple example. Your life is filled with different kinds of incidents relating to joy, suffering, guilt, pain, and depression. You don’t look at life as it is. What do you usually do? You collect only the incidents related to suffering and create a shaft, connecting only these ideas, and you think your life is nothing but suffering. You think that your life is a long chain of suffering, a pain shaft.

Very rarely, you create a joy shaft. It is very rare that you collect joyful incidents, create a joy shaft, and feel life is joy. It is rare not only in the number of joyful shafts, but also in the quality of them. Most of the time you collect all the painful memories and incidents, and create the idea that life is only pain. The moment you believe life is continuous painful occurrences, unconsciously you try to strengthen that belief, even though consciously you try to break the pain shaft. Please understand, your belief that life is a pain shaft or a joy shaft will stay only as long as you are unconscious, not when you are aware.

If you normally enjoy lustful thoughts, then whenever lustful thoughts cross your system, you come to the awareness, ‘I exist’. If you normally enjoy violent thoughts, whenever violent thoughts come into your system, you come to life and know that you exist. This is what I call a vicious circle: you empowering negativity and negativity bringing you back to life, you empowering more negativity, and more negativity bringing to life perceived excitement.

How can we clear our Karmas ?

Let me explain the three types of karma from a different angle.

You see, if you take all the possibilities that you are aware of and that are available to you in the cosmos, we call that as agamya. There are all kinds of possibilities. You can become a fish, you can become a snake, you can become a man, or you can become a god. All these are possibilities. We call that as agamya.

There are also other possibilities that are available to you. These are not only within the field of your awareness like the things that you know such as fish, monkey, dog, donkey and man, but also many other possibilities that are unknown to you. Those we call sanchita, the whole range of known and unknown possibilities.

The whole is sanchita and the possibilities that lie in front of you are agamya. You then decide to play only with certain boundaries of these possibilities when you come into this body. Technique to Live Enlightenment within 30 days

Listen, the seventeenth verse of Isavasya Upanishad.

vāyur-anilam amṛtam athedaṁ bhasmāntagṁ śarīram |

auṁ krato smara kṛtagṁ smara krato smara kṛtagṁ smara || 17 || 

Listen, when you declare – “let my prāṇa become the prāṇa of the Cosmos, let my breathing pattern become one with that breathing pattern of the Cosmos” – your bio-memory will rest in the space of Completion.

Understand, all incompletion is tension, stress. All Completion is relaxation and restfulness. All Completion is relaxation. All incompletion is stress. Even in the work if you are stressed, I can give you 120% guarantee you are not going to do the work, because first being in the relaxed mood is the basic condition. Freedom is the basic condition for growth; restful awareness is the basic condition for anything to happen. Stressed means, you are confused; you are not clear what you are supposed to do. Completion is restful awareness, restful awareness is Completion. Restfulness, restfulness is not laziness. Please be very clear, I am not promoting your laziness. I am promoting restful awareness. When you decide  – “let my breathing pattern become one with the Cosmic breathing pattern” – your bio-memory will rest in the space of Completion.

What is inner space? What is silence? When will I experience silence? How do I know if I am meditating rightly?

What is inner space ?

Inner space means when you close your eyes and look inside, how you feel, what you feel as you, that is inner space.

Second, what is silence?

If that inner space—if you suddenly feel as if you have taken bath in the cold water and the whole thing inside is in the eternal peace, there is no agitation, it is all completely in peace, in restful awareness, that is what I call ‘inner silence’- means less number of thoughts.

Third question—when will I experience silence?

Whenever you want, that’s all. It is actually you need to feel tired of wandering around. Unless you feel tired of wandering around, if I have to use very strong term—fooling around, your mind goes on fooling around. Instead of real source of joy, you just go round, go round, go round, go round, try to taste everything; other than your food you try to taste everything. When I say everything, I mean everything. Your mind also does the same thing, going around constantly, fooling around, trying this, this, this, this, this, this,this, this, this, this, this..What is the essence? It just goes on.  Goes on trying. I tell you, your mind needs to be little tired, tired of roaming around, wandering, only then it will experience silence. It will decide to experience silence.

You are asking, ‘how do I know if I am meditating rightly?’

When you meditate rightly, peace will start growing in you like a tree growing, the experience of peace will start growing in you. Nothing can agitate you. No one can disturb you. Growing peace in you. When peace grows in you rightly, you are meditating rightly.

What happens when you suicide ?

IA Participant: It’s about the, if it’s a natural deaths or it’s a accidental deaths, and for devotee or for just a normal person. I heard like for some tradition like 49 days kind of preparation. But you just mentioned it only takes a few hours ?

Swamiji: So, listen. Let me be very clear. When a person dies, natural death, he will assume the body in 3 sec. 3 kshana. Kshana means gap between 1 thought and the other thought. If you lived a complete life, for you the gap between one thought and another thought can be even 2 hrs. For a agitated person, the gap may be microsecond. So based on the individual mind within 3 thought, the third thought he has to have another one body. But the luggage transfer, all the incompletions and baggage and karma, knowledge, the art they know, the skills they know, the language they know, the efficiency they have all that to get transferred it takes 13 days. U-Haul service takes 13 days. You are shifting from Seattle to St. Louis. You go in flight and land in St. Louis, but all your luggage from Seattle to St. Louis takes 13 days. U-Haul service takes 13 days. Understand?

So, for a normal person, natural death, this is the way he dies and in 13 days the luggage is shifted. For a normal person, accident; because it is an accident, he has not committed suicide; he will be given a peaceful lounge till his natural death period comes. If he is supposed to die at 90 by exhausting all karmas, he dies at 50, forty years he will have a peaceful lounge in the transition zone. So, he will not be painful or hurting or suffering. He will have a peaceful lounge, like a resting and then in his natural death period he will take the body and the luggage will go with him. But if somebody commit suicide, he will have a terrorized lounge where he has to wait the natural period, till natural death period of death but it will be heavy suffering, worst suffering. That’s all is the difference. And if a devotee, especially initiated disciple, if he has a natural death, the moment his soul leaves the body I give him the option, the moment he goes through the NSP process, especially this death process.

Please listen; with all my integrity I am speaking this. Wherever you leave the body I will be there, the moment the death heat starts in your body I will be there. First thing I will be appearing and I will give you the option, if you want one more body you will have the conscious birth, you will carry only the completion pattern, all the other I disconnect it here itself.

The few loads of U-Haul vehicle will get into accident; it will never be transported to you. Only the completion part will come to you, other things will be burnt here. If you don’t want one more body you just disappear into MY form, into the restful awareness, in which I am happening. Understand, same way you are a devotee, if you face an accident, you will not be made to wait. The moment you are about to leave the body again you see me and I give you the option. You want to have one more body immediately you will have a conscious birth and only the completion patterns. You may be born in a gurukul or parents who will bring you to gurukul, who will bring you immediately to have my darshan and immediately connected, live and celebrate and enjoy the whole thing. If you don’t want one more body you just relax and, be in the restful awareness of ME. Even if you are a devotee if you commit suicide I cannot help. You have to go through the terrorized lounge and sit there, be there you go through the normal persons path, no way of any support or any help is possible. Clear..?

IA Participant: Yes. And I heard you say I will be resting with you.

Swamiji: If you decide.

IA Participant: If I decide I will be resting with you. Whether I be still individual consciousness.

Swamiji: There may not be any individual consciousness. There is something called Divya Shareera; means the body without body. The body which is not separate identity and if I have to explain more precise, it’s like a, if you consider the cosmic soul as a huge ice cream, you are also a small toy made of ice-cream, same ice-cream. The karana, kaarya both will not be separate from the origin; means the reason and the cause and happening and the whole thing you will not have a separate identity. You will be just in the space of Complete Completion. Clear.

IA Participant: Yes

Swamiji: You see, now as long as you have some other goal other than enriching, other than being part of what I am, you have a individual identity. If you decide you don’t want any other goal, any other individual identity, you just want only what I am which is Integrity, Authenticity, Responsibility, Enriching then you start experiencing that space even now. Clear. That is what Bhagavad-Gita calls Akshardhaama; Imperishable space. Where you do not have a individual body, it is called Saropya Mukthi. Saroopya mukthi means like a Nandi, Devi, Ganesha. All of them has no Individual identity, they are just Shiva, the different parts of Shiva. That’s all. Sameepya mukthi it is called, being near, liberated.

IA Participant: And I think every day we will go through death or certain part will go through death so that applies as well.

Swamiji: Yes

IA Participant: And if we keep doing Completion process, that means only the complete part will go to the next and incompletion part will be thrown away

Swamiji: Yes, but be burnt away. See, during the death I will naturally ask you, what do you want? You want one more birth or complete liberation. If you choose completion liberation you will be there in the same space as I describe. If you don’t even want to have a form made out of same ice-cream, you can just become one with the main ice-cream. That’s all. It’s like a ice ball can anytime become one with the huge snow hill. If you want to take one more birth you will become a conscious birth. All your completions will come with you, incompletions will be burnt, that is what is the purpose of this death process.

IA Participant: If I choose to take another birth does that mean there is still some little incompletion?

Swamiji: No, nothing like that, when you leave the body, when I ask if you wanted to take one more birth that is not incompletion. You just want to play or enjoy. That is perfectly alright.

  • Restful Awareness is enjoying non-doing amidst highest doing.
  • Law of Life has no karma other than suffering given to others.
  • The Whole Cosmic Law functions on Violence and Non-violence.
  • Perpetual possibility is directly proportional to perpetual non-doing. Perpetual possibility is possible.
  • Restful awareness happens by being in the space of perpetual space of possibility.
  • Happiness is being sure about you for few moments. Bliss is being sure about you forever.
