Your own Existential experience is only one, your ātman, self. Everything else is your perceptional experience. If you remember in the dream, is this perceptional reality or existential reality?, you will wake up. In the waking state, if you remember, is this perceptional reality or existential reality?, you will be awakened.

Kenopanishad. The sacred secrets revealed in the Kenopanishad.  The 3rd and 4th mantra in the second khanḍaḥ of Kenopanishad.

yasyāmataṁ tasya mataṁ  mataṁ yasya na veda saḥ
avijñātam vijānatāṁ vijñātmavijānatām || 3||

The 4th verse recite along with Me:

pratibodhaviditaṁ matamamṛtatvaṁ hi vindate
ātmanā vindate vīryaṁ  vidyayā vindate ‘mṛtam || 4 ||

I’ll read out the translation for the 3rd and 4th verse, then reveal the sacred secrets.

He by whom, It is not known, to him It is known and experienced; he by whom, it is Known, to him, It is not known or perceived. It is unknown to those, who think they know It well and known to those, who know It not.

The 4th Verse:

It is truly known, when the Self is consciously cognized and subjectively known to oneself in each state of Consciousness with every modification of the mind and intellect. Through such complete, matured cognition of the Pure Self is attained immortality, amṛtatvam —existence in one’s own Self. By Ātman, the Pure Self is attained real strength, the space of powerfulness. And by Vidyā, Complete Knowledge of the Self is experienced Immortality, which is the true nature of Ātman.

If you feel ‘Whole day I am working, but end of the day, I don’t know what I have done’ means all parts of you still have not woken up!

Listen carefully. Somethings you need to understand about the state of consciousness, to understand the biology, chemistry and physics of the Cosmos. Every night when you fall asleep, it is not that all of you fall in the same deep sleep state or dream state. You are all cut to pieces like a mutton – chicken. One chunk goes to dream-waking, one chunk goes to waking-deep sleep, one chunk goes to dream-deep sleep, one chunk goes to sleep-dream, one chunk goes to sleep-sleep, one chunk goes to dream-dream. You are actually a….sorry but truth….you are a disgusting disaster, not bipolar – multipolar part-part. Your liver goes and settles into dream-deep sleep and kidney goes and falls into sleep-sleep and eyes are into dream-dream. Brain coma-sleep. No, you fall…..no please understand – you fall into different states, when you wake up, don’t think all the parts are retrieved. No! Liver still does not come out of it’s sleep, that is why it is sending the signals of lethargy into your system. Lethargy is nothing but your liver still not come to waking state.

Fundamental problem is – you are out bed does not mean you are awake

It’s not that because you are powerless you did not express the power of third eye, you have never tried. Your individual will has never been told convincingly that you have a possibility!

Participant of Sadashivoham Program is asking “Yeah! Swamiji, what I want to ask is I am going through so many things, so at each point of time, when I am in in either dream state or in waking state or in any of those three states that I am in, without my knowledge or without my awareness, these states are criss crossing and I really don’t know what I’m going through until I see something which is manifesting as a reality outside.  Now that after you have told this now I can relate, okay I’m going through something, so that is manifested there’s something outside.

Now this individual will does it have the capacity or the power or the strength to overpower these states, is what I want to know and I want to know the difference between that individual will and the cosmic will. How to align this to that?” Read More

Technique to feel completely rested and relaxed without losing awareness

This technique should be done when you are ready to fall asleep, not when you are supposed to sleep or at the time prescribed to you. When your body actually says it is ready, do this meditation.

Just rest and wait passively, that’s all!

Don’t try to sleep.

Don’t try to follow any method to fall asleep. Don’t feel guilty or anxious if sleep is not happening to you.

Just wait. Read More

Bringing yourself completely out of the waking, dreaming and deep sleep states, is what I call being in meditation!

Many people think meditation involves blindly believing in something. People fear this. They come and tell me, ‘I am afraid that I might get too attached to meditation.’ Understand, meditation itself is nothing but removing your attachment! So you can’t get too attached to it.

Meditation is all about changing the inner software.

People are also afraid that their desires, fears and whatever else they think of as their life will be taken away from them if they start meditating. In a way this is true! Once you start meditating, whatever you thought of as your life until then, will no longer be important to you! The real truths will start revealing themselves to you. All the illusions you were holding until then will start leaving you. All the time you are trying to protect yourself from the basic truths only because you are afraid of losing your illusions about life. Read More

Only when you have a clear understanding about the self (jeeva), world (jagat) and god (ishwara), you can meditate. Until then, any technique that you try, will seem to fail at some point in time.

In the beginning you have to practice meditation in life. You have to consciously introduce meditation into your lifestyle. Choose a technique, practice for half an hour or one hour a day. See how you feel. If you enjoy a technique, stick to it for at least ten days without expecting results. If a technique has touched you, there is no way it cannot transform you in some way. Sometimes the transformation will be subtle, and sometimes others may see it better than you do.

The understanding that is able to give you a completely restful feeling, through which you are able to solve all your problems, through which you are able to find your own life solutions, is called psychological revolution Read More

What meditation can do and why meditation needs to be practiced ?

We experience two states of mind in our day-to-day life, one is with thoughts, the other is without thoughts. We know we have thoughts when we are awake. In deep sleep, do we have thoughts? No. So there are two states of mind: with thoughts and without thoughts. Read More

Turn your awareness from the seen to the seer, you will wake up and start experiencing the causeless bliss that is in you all the time!

Sannyas is not a game of one world against another, of material versus spiritual.

First thing you need to understand is there are no two worlds like material and spiritual. There is only one world.

Second thing is sannyas is not a doctrine. It is a certain attitude of living in the world without suffering. It is an understanding of how to live in the best possible way. It is a conscious decision to live life as close to reality as possible, because living in reality is living in the most optimum way.

What is living in reality? Read More

When you try to change the events and world outside, you are trying to change the scene by jumping in front of the screen

In all the states, one factor is common, the one who goes through these states or the seer. If you look little deeper, you can see that in all these three states of waking, dream and deep sleep, we are trying to change reality as it exists. We are trying to change the scene happening every moment in our lives. It may look childish to think that you can change the scene on the movie screen by jumping in front of it.

Just look little deeper into your own lives. In your life also you are under the illusion that you are in control of your life. Life is actually a movie, moving in these three states. You, the seer, are the projector. Whether you believe it or not, accept it or not, you create your reality. When you try to change the events and world outside, you are trying to change the scene by jumping in front of the screen. To change the scene, you need to change the film being projected on the screen. When you realize the futility of all the three states and the futility of trying to change the scene in all these three states the whole attention will fall on the seer. Then the awakening will happen. If instead you think that there is some utility in all these three states, your attention will be on them. You will continue to be engaged in them. You will continue to try to alter the scene. Read More

An intense seeker will carry the identity about himself throughout all three states – dream, deep sleep and waking.

There are four states of consciousness.

When you have ‘I’ Consciousness and thoughts, you are in the waking state, the state in which you are right now. In this state, ‘I’ has more frequency than your thoughts. So you can control your thoughts.

When you are without ‘I’ consciousness but having thoughts, you are in the dream state. In the dream state, your thoughts are at a higher frequency than your ‘I’ consciousness. That is why you have thoughts in your dreams but you are not able to control them.

When you are without ‘I’ Consciousness and not having any thoughts, you are in the deep sleep state. Normally, we are aware of only these three states of waking, dream and deep sleep.

The fourth state is where you have I consciousness but no thoughts or turiya.

Intensity means being intense every moment in whatever you do. So first you need to be aware of yourself in all the states. Then only you can be intense throughout.

Now you experience who you are with awareness only during the waking state. You feel, ‘I am a doctor,’ ‘I am a lawyer,’ ‘I am an engineer’ and so on. Only if we are aware of the identities that we carry and enjoy in all the three states, we have caught the thread, the center line of all the three states of waking, dream and deep sleep. When we catch the thread of all these three states, suddenly we realize our identity in all the three states. Read More

Seeking is the love letter from your Beloved who is living in your heart forever!

18th verse last day on Isavasya Upanishad. I wanted to give the essence of this Upanishad, through all the 18 verses, what they are trying to convey to us, they conveyed in the last verse, the essence.

agne naya supathā rāye asmān viśvāni deva vayunāni vidvān |

yuyodhy asmaj juhurāṇam eno bhūyiṣṭhāṁ te nama-uktiṁ vidhema || 18 ||

“O Agni, the Fire God! Knower of all our actions and all that is worth knowing, You must take us along the righteous and auspicious path of completion, leading us to experience the Supreme Consciousness, the original space of Complete Completion. O God, Consciousness! May you remove all our incompletions that are obstacles on our good path of completion, beyond coming and going, birth and death. Onto You we surrender with many reverential words, bowing down again and again.”

Listen. If I squeeze this whole 18 verses, the essence I see is intense seeking.

Seeking is the way God in you wakes up.

Understand, Seeking is the way God in you wakes up.

In the early morning sometimes you feel, you yourself will feel that you are dreaming. That is the way you wake up. How many of you have experienced the state that I am describing? Same way, listen. Seeking is the way you wake up to your reality. Don’t fall asleep, don’t turn away when the Seeking is awakened in you. Understand. After remembering you are dreaming, you just pull up your blanket and turn and sleep, how stupid you are. Same way, after just having seeking, after smelling seeking in your life, after tasting seeking in your life, if you just turn and loose that intensity in seeking that is the most stupid thing that can happen to you in your life. Nirbhaya Dhyana – Death Meditation

Every fear you accumulate, every fear makes you feel agitated, every fear which you do not want to think or remember – go through, go into all those fears consciously neither deciding to save yourself from that fear nor having greed to achieve what you are afraid of. So without having the greed or fear enter into the fear. Naturally the fear will lose its quality of fear when you do not carry fear or greed for the fear. Greed has its quality of greed because you are greed for greed and fear about the greed. Same way the fear has the quality of fear because you are fear for the fear and indirect greed towards the fear. So when your fears are approached with fearlessness and greedlessness, the straightening out of your consciousness every day happens.

The change of consciousness from Jagrath to Swapna, Swapna to Sushupthi ; The waking state to dream state and dream state to the deep sleep state happens because your awareness is not straightened out. Either the bumps of the fear or bumps of the greed responsible for your consciousness jumping from waking state to dream state or dream state to deep sleep state. If you remove all the bumps of the fear before falling asleep you will not fall asleep, you will fall into something called restful awareness, which is recorded by the word – Turiya – by the earlier mantra drashtas. So the word Turiya denotes the state of falling into the restful awareness without the bumps of fear or greed. Every night remove all the bumps you created during your day time through fear or greed. Continous practice of removing all the bumps of fear and greed by facing them will help you to fall into the state of Turiya. This is what Mahadeva calls as Death process – Nirbhaya Dhyana.
